POIANA BRASOV |
Set up in 1895, Poiana Brasov started as a tourist area for Brasov city. The first building dates from 1904. In 1906 Poiana Brasov became a ski resort and three years later the first ski contest in Romania took place. In 1951 Poiana Brasov was host to the Students’ International Winter Games. Well-known as a permanent climatic resort, as well as a winter sports one, Poiana Brasov allows the visitors to discover a peaceful oasis, where urban features remain well behind.
Poiana Brasov is surrounded by 4 impressive mounts: Postavarul (1799 m), Piatra Craiului (2238 m), Bucegi (2505 m) and Piatra Mare (1848 m).
In summertime, the mountain-loving tourist can follow the marked routes of Mount Postavarul, but also explore genuine nature, tracking the path of wild inhabitants of the forests.
In wintertime tourists enjoy ski slopes of variable difficulty, for both beginners and experienced skiers. Cable transport ensures access to the slopes tops.
